Improving My Tweets

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Ever want to know more about Twitter, but don’t know who to ask? Well, I did just that– sorta. On April 29, I attended a social networks workshop at my local Chamber of Commerce.

The speaker was Beth Bates from Web Strategies, and I walked away with more knowledge and a great handout resource. While I can’t share my handout with you (Chamber members only–sorry), I can give you her URL www.BethJBates.com. It contains information on how to use the tools and applications on Twitter as well as helpful information on LinkedIn and Facebook. I’m having a ball using Twello.

Again, check out all of the great resources for maximizing Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook at www.BethJBates.com.

Got Resolutions?

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

“Set priorities for your goals. A major part of successful living lies in the ability to put first things first. Indeed, the reason most major goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first.”
–Robert J. McKain

Yes, it is that time of year! Time to make those New Year’s resolutions. This will be the year that we will, we must, we have to accomplish what we have set out to do. That resolution really is a priority for us this year. It was also a priority last year and the year before, but that was just different.

We must lose weight, quit smoking, add more clients to our business, spend more time with our families, and on and on the list goes. We start out with the best intentions. But then….well, life gets in the way.

We decide that maybe now is not a good time. This isn’t going to be the year after all.

I like the way the Goals Guy explains it. He compares making New Year’s resolutions to cooking from a recipe. There needs to be a step-by-step sequence, preciseness, measurability, and a time frame. You also have to be in this thing for the entire year and not just for instant gratification.

He also explains that there needs to be one what, three whys, and five hows in your resolution making. Almost sounds like the five w’s of journalism, hugh?

Well, I’ll let you read about these whats, whys, and hows on the Goals Guy’s web site. After all, to read more may be one of your New Year’s resolutions.

Happy New Year!

Be Thankful And Get More Clients!

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Let me take this opportunity to wish all of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving.

We still have so much to be thankful for in this country. Especially those of us who own our own business. We definitely have something to be thankful for.

However, some of you would probably like to be even more thankful for an increase in clientele in 2007. Well, I have just the solution for you. There are two “loaded” web sites I’d like to tell you about.

Both of these web sites offer marketing information, books, seminars, networking, and coaching at all levels. There is also a free newsletter offered on each web site. Just sign up.

So don’t dread the approach of 2007 knowing that you really do need more or better clients. Yes, I said “better.” Did you know that you can actually learn to attract the just the right client to your door? I didn’t either until I started using some of the visualizations.

No longer do you need to settle for clients who take too long to pay or even pay at all. Clients who really don’t share your business ethics or philosophy–get rid of them! Learn to once and for all identify your target market, and align it with your unique talents and skills.

Find out how you can get your clients so excited about your business that you’ll spend less and less on marketing. Why? Because your current clients will do the marketing for you! Word-of-mouth will become your preferred form of marketing.

Have I kept you in suspense long enough? Good. I just want to get you as excited as I am about these two phenomenial web sites. They are:

www.ClientAttraction.com

www.GetClientsNow.com

Bookmark them and refer back to them as you grow your business. While there are other great web sites, these two are particularly good for writers, speakers, consultants, and coaches. Those in our industry.

You may even want to take advantage of their coaching classes and add coaching to your list of services offered. That is if you don’t currently offer it. Just a thought.

Now, go eat a drumstick on me! Happy Thanksgiving!
